Basic Chess

Basic Chess is a straightforward, no-frills chess game focused on the essentials: the board, the pieces, and the game of chess.

Supports the standard rules of chess, including castling, en passant, pawn promotion, check, checkmate, and stalemate.

Games are anonymous by default. Players can simply start or join a game without needing a persistent identity. When desired, a game can instead be organized between folks who know eachother, allowing friends or other players to arrange a match with one another.

Gameplay is turn-based, with a web server handling the game state and communication between players.
